Project Integrate

During this past year working with Project Integrate I learned about utilizing several technologies which could be used to enhance the learning process. I learned that there are a good number of 21st Century tools that can be used by teachers to help students learn the curriculum. During the project I learned about the following resources to name a few: Photostory3, bubbl.us, Thinkfinity.org, Google Search Tips, Microsoft Award Certificates, VoiceThread, Crocodoc.com, Classtools.net, Contentgenerator.net. and Aha! Science. It became aparent early on when discussing the various technologies with teachers that it is a good idea to have a knowledgeable person who has worked with that particular technology or resource to answer questions. It was interesting working with one of the teachers at Howard Elementary working through issues associated with integrating some technology. The teacher and I used Photostory3 with students written stories. Students wrote stories and then we put them on the computer using Photostory3 which then could be shown to their parents and others. I think this was a good learning experience for all. The students I feel learned it was important to do their best as others would potentially see their work. This could be a good way to link parents with various student projects and works.
There are many resources that teachers can use to help them teach their curriculum. I hope that we can give the teachers time to find and try numerous resources that they may find helpful to them. The individual teacher needs to have some exposure to the resources to know what can be done, also, they need time to explore them and become comfortable using them. Teachers will need to discover for themselves if it the resource is something that will benefit them and their students. I believe teachers will use the technology tools available to them if they are comfortable with them and they see the benefit to their students.
